When you have the courage to never quit, you will amaze even yourself.
Why Lake Tech?
Lake Tech is close to my home and I’ve heard great things about the school.
How was Lake Tech different from other schools you have attended?
All the teachers really care about the students and really want each of us to succeed. They provide a warm, welcoming environment for learning, as well as make it really fun. If you’re having trouble understanding a subject or if you don’t understand a certain question, they take the time to work it out with you and make sure you really grasp the material. They make you want to come to school and enjoy learning.
How long did it take you to complete your training?
I took the G.E.D exam and earned my State of Florida High School Diploma within three months of starting the program. I continued my studies to raise my score for the TABE so I could meet the exit requirements for the Patient Care Technician and Practical Nursing programs.
What did you learn in your program that prepared you for your job?
I’ve learned everything from how to write a resume to learning the proper math, reading, and language skills to go out into the world to become a success.
Describe your best experience while a student at Lake Tech.
I would have to say the best experience was being able to work with my teachers. I really enjoyed coming to class and having other people care about me and get excited for me whenever I would pass a subject. The teachers motivated me to learn! They were very positive, caring, loving people who went out of their way for each and every one of their students.
What is one thing that future students should know about Lake Tech?
My advice to you as future students would be to come ready to learn. You will get out as much as you put into your school work. If you come thinking you can come to class and goof around, it’s going to take you a long time to reach your goals, and you won’t graduate as fast as you’d like. But if you come ready to learn, ready to succeed, then graduating is easily within your grasp.
Future students need to know that the program works! If you come to class everyday ready to work hard and are eager to learn, this program will work for you. You have teachers that are ready to help you succeed and reach your goal. The learning environment is fun and you will really get a lot out of this program. Whether it’s to a job or to further your education, you will be able to take what you will learn here in school with you. You will walk away from here and feel you’ve been part of something truly special!
Do you have plans to continue your education?
Because of this program and the dedicated teachers who have helped me to be a continued success, I am currently in the PCT program. After graduation, I plan to enroll in the Practical Nursing program and bridge over to the Registered Nursing program and earn my associate and bachelor’s degrees. I plan to eventually attend graduate school and enter the Nurse Practitioner program. I plan to open my own practice and even further my education by becoming a physician in general medicine.
My dreams and goals are all now a possibility to me. I have climbed a wall that has been blocking me for so long. Every day I strive to be the best I can be. I hold my head up high, and even though I have graduated, and am furthering my education, my teachers are still cheering me on. I will never forget where I was when I started this program and where I am now.
